Happy Easter From Buy As You View

Posted on the 27 March 2013 by Buyasyouview @BuyAsYouView

With Easter coming up and the kids off school for two weeks we’re sure lots of you will be looking for fun things to do during the holiday.

From making sweet treats at home to painting your own eggs, you can have an eggcellent Easter without breaking the bank. Here are a few of our favorite Easter activities:

Easter Egg Hunt

A traditional Easter egg hunt is always popular with children, no matter how old they are! If it rains you can always hide the eggs around the house instead of the garden, and you can do it the evening before after they’ve gone to bed if you want to be extra prepared.

Have fun with an Easter Egg Hunt in the garden (weather permitting!)

Top tip: Buy a bag of mini eggs or smaller treats to use as clues – you can leave a trail leading to the top prize!

Building a Chocolate Nest

Kids love chocolate nests and the recipe is very simple so they can enjoy doing most of it themselves. Firstly, melt chocolate in a bowl over a pan of hot water – this is the part that you will need to help with. Then take the bowl off the hot water, add the cereal and mix together straight away. Once the cereal is covered with yummy chocolate, scoop the mixture into cupcake cases and pop a mini egg in the middle. Put them in the fridge until the chocolate has hardened (this shouldn’t take any longer than 10 mins) and hey presto – you have a little nest with an egg ready to hatch!

Top Tip: This may be a bit messy, so put a plastic tablecloth down first if you have one.

Painting Eggs

Once the kids have had their fill of choccies and sweets, why not try some arts and crafts? Before you paint your eggs, you’ll need to blow out the whites and yolk. Make a small hole in the top of each egg and a bigger hole in the bottom with a needle, then blow through the top one until all the runny egg is gone. Put the eggs under the tap to clean them out with water before getting out the paints and letting your kids get creative!

Top Tip: Be very gentle with the eggs as they might crack at any stage! Putting them on barbecue skewers will make it easier to paint all sides of the eggs and you can leave them on the skewers to dry.

Homemade Easter cards

Making your own Easter cards is lots of fun and they’re more special as each one will be different. You can use any arts and crafts materials you might have around the house – papers, card, crayons, coloured pencils or paints will all do fine, and things like leftover sweet wrappers and tin foil are perfect for a collage

Top Tip: Cotton wool balls make very cute bunny rabbit tails!

Family Films

Easter is a time for being with family and what better way to spend it than watching a movie that everybody can enjoy! Babe gets us in the springtime mood and Up is a sure hit with both kids and grown-ups. The most perfect Easter film must be Charlie and the Chocolate Factory though – is there a better film to watch whilst snacking on your Easter eggs?

And of course, if you’ve been thinking of investing in a new TV, here at Buy As You View, we’ve got a fantastic range to choose from with something to suit every budget.
