Hello World! Welcome To My Blog

A big pink HELLO to all my readers

" data-orig-size="810,450" sizes="(max-width: 810px) 100vw, 810px" aperture="aperture" />Hello! I’m so glad you’re here!

Hello!

Hello and welcome to What Rach Did Next and to my first blog post. I’m so happy you’re taking the time to read this and I hope you’ve had a fantastic start to the year so far!

Gosh, this blogging thing is harder than it looks! I was feeling so confident but now that I have my own little online space, I’ve said this big ‘Hello’ and all of a sudden my mind is blank and I don’t know what to say.

Who Is Rach?

If you’d like to know a little more about me, why I’m blogging and what to expect, check out my About Rach page.

Right now, I’m just sussing out how this whole blogging thing works, how WordPress works, what the deal is with SEO and why it’s so important. I’m a fast learner but I don’t expect to have that nailed overnight. However, my day job is working for a fashion company, managing the relationships we have with bloggers. Some might say I’m fairly knowledgeable of both sides of this industry already so I promise I to divulge tips whenever I can.

Hello World! Welcome To My Blog

Rach with a new do!

Want To Get To Know Me?

For those who are interested, here are my answers to ten questions that I borrowed from Better Help to help you learn a little more about me:

What is the best and worst phase of your life?

Honestly, right here, right now. It’s Christmas, I’ve just broken up with someone, I’ve got no job, no income, no car but I do have my sanity, my health, my cats, my house, my family and my friends. All of which I will be eternally grateful for.

What is your favorite book or movie of all time and why did it speak to you so much?

Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carol. I read this over and over again as a child. It was a book that really stretched my imagination and transported me to somewhere magical. I think it’s important to get completely outside of your own head every once in a while and Alice really makes this happen. Also, it taught me some really important lessons in life; it’s ok to be different and that being a little bit bonkers actually helps in certain situations. If ever I find myself stuck on something I try to think… What would Alice do? Right now, Alice would probably dive down the rabbit hole.

What are you most thankful for?

My family and friends. I’ve been through a really bad time lately and over the last six months, I’ll be honest, I’ve been avoiding them because I didn’t want to admit how bad things were. I wasn’t sure how any of them would respond when I asked for help but they do say a friend in need is a friend indeed. I have the best friends and family ever!

What is the one thing that people always misunderstand about you?

Not much really, I find it impossible not to wear my heart on my sleeve! My sense of humor sometimes gets me in trouble. I think because I’m aware that I give too much away, I try to hide behind sarcasm for fear of coming across as too gushy. I know I have offended people in the past when I really didn’t mean to.

What is your biggest regret in life?

I have a hideous tattoo on my left arm that I wish I’d never had. If I could think what to have, I’d cover it up but I’m scared I’ll make the same mistake again!

Hello World! Welcome To My Blog

Plastic bottles, bags and debris washed up on a beach. It makes me so sad. Why are we still using plastic people?

If you could change something in the world, what would it be?

The damage we’re doing to our planet. For f**k’s sake people, stop using plastic bags!

What’s on your bucket list?

I would absolutely LOVE to see the Northern Lights. I went snowboarding in Finland a few years back in the hope I might see them. Everyone said the conditions were perfect but they didn’t show. I think maybe I’ll try Iceland next time. This is my bucket list for the next few years taken care of.

What would you most like to learn and why?

Haha! The secret to an easy and happy life! then again, nothing worth having is ever easy, is it? How to time travel would be a good one. How to deal with the thoughts I’m having right now would be great. I don’t like what’s going on in my head. My New Year’s resolution is to get some counseling. If I had to pick a tangible skill though I’d go for time management. It’s something I used to be great at, I used to manage the diaries of an entire team and now I can’t even manage my own. I think that’s all part of not being able to think clearly at the moment though.

What are your top fears?

Spiders. That I’ll be as miserable as I am right now forever. That I’ll never know what it’s like to have a family of my own.

What do you feel passionate about?

At the moment..? It’s hard to feel passionate about anything when you feel this low but ordinarily, I love food, music and art.

So that’s my ‘Hello World’! I’m sorry it doesn’t sound very positive right now but I promise it will get better. That’s the whole point of my blog – drab to fab. Here we go!

So who are you? Please feel free to say ‘Hello’! In the comments, by email or via social media. I’d love to find out about who my readers are too.

Rach x
