I would like to preface this rare, rare occurrence (that is, me writing about horse racing) with an obvious statement: I know next to nothing about horse racing.
However, I do know that a Triple Crown winner is a rare, rare thing (much like myself writing about horse racing). So, today, I will join the many, many others who know nothing about horse racing, but know that this is a potentially rare, rare thing in cheering on American Pharoah (AmPho to his friends…okay, it might just be me), because how cool would that be?
So, barring some catastrophe that lands me without access to a television come 5:50 this evening, I will be watching and hoping to witness history. Because there’s nothing cooler than remembering where you were when something significant happened. So, in the immortal words of Eliza Doolittle (sort of) come on Pharoah:
