It’s the Rootin’-est, Rawrin’-est Round Up…

Posted on the 30 July 2013 by Rarasaur @rarasaur

A few months ago, I set up a little page for awards which keeps things orderly and timely– but I’ve been missing my favorite part of awards.  I love answering the fun questions or responding, in my own way, to the things people list about themselves.  So from now on, I’m going to do it Round Up style and answer a few questions from any awards I’m lucky enough to receive throughout the course of a month, or two months.  This time, I’m going to combine June and July.

If you’re in the mood to discover some new friends, clicking any of the following links will take you to amazing places.

Thanks again, wonderful folks, for the nominations.

I used to have my hair down to my waist, but one night I woke up– strangling for air– because my braid had latched itself around my neck.  Conclusion: I fidget in my sleep too much to have long hair.

I knew the Fibonacci sequence by heart before I knew my alphabet.

I’ve never been a cake person.

I wrote an essay on being drug-free when I was in the 5th grade, and also won.  The “prize” was reading it aloud to my city.   I read it so quickly that I don’t think anyone understood any of it– until the last paragraph.  I slowed down, found my little siblings in the crowd, and read loudly and slowly: If my little brothers or sister ever fell victim to drugs, I would blame myself for not setting a high enough standard or clearing a clean enough path.  They are my reason for bettering my life, and always will be.  My future is their future, and their missteps are mine.  I’m not drug-free because my life is worth is– I’m drug-free because they are worth it.

I’ve locked myself in a sadly non-metaphorical closet more times than I can count. It’s to the point that family and friends will remove any locks or hinges, or sometimes doors, from their pantries just to be on the safe side.

I’m one of the middle children of 6 kids, and the middle girl, too– I also use that as an excuse explanation for any warped behavior.

I love crowns. I can, and have, made hundreds out of various materials in the course of my life.  In fact, I have a foldable one in our car right now. Just in case.

To answer your question, we’re all fools here.

I wouldn’t mind being a zebra.

I found this over at ArchosaurMusings along with a discussion on why more dines aren't monochromatic!

My first experience with zookeeping was watching a keeper carry a trough of poo.  I never wanted that job.

I love patterns, and couldn’t possibly choose just one.  In fact, I was sucked into Pinterest as a way to file everything I find in possession of an awesome pattern.

I’m also pretty good with Lord of the Rings lore, not that it comes up that often.

If I had to choose a symbol to represent myself, I’d go with the Sei Heki, and not just because it looks like a dinosaur (to me). http://www.reiki.info/World/English/Reiki-Symbols/Sei-Heki-Reiki-Symbol.htm

My heart is also old.  Every birthday, my dad asks me, “Does your age match the age of your heart yet?”.  So far, the answer is still no.

I enjoy moments of peace and I often find myself sacrificing normal things in pursuit of it.

I’ve never been able to sign my name as just an initial.  My older sister always has, but she is an L– and L’s are still fabulous when they stand alone.  R’s are sort of lonely.

See? Still fabulous.

See? Still fabulous.

I didn’t see a full Monty Python movie till I was 19.  My parents don’t understand British humor in general– Monty Python humor was several steps outside their realm of understanding.

Me: Haha! Mom: This is making me uncomfortable.

Me: Haha!
Mom: This is making me uncomfortable.
Dad: Is this a commentary on genocide?

I was just thinking about how Souplantation only has 5 or 6 soups.  There should be a soup buffet near me. I love soup!

Do you have awesome initials that look fabulous without the full context of your name?

Would you ever want to be a zookeeper?

Are you a middle child, too?

What’s your favorite soup?

Also, if you have some time between today or sometime tomorrow afternoon, stop by the Championship for the Ages, where your votes took me to the finals. It’s round 1 of the finals, and I’m up against the fabulous Charles Yallowitz.  Vote for your favorite, no matter who it is.  We’d appreciate it times a million.  Much love to you guys for taking the time!
