I'm interrupting your regularly scheduled summer programming to bring you a blast of fresh, winter air. In the words of Auntie Mame (look it up) we need a little Christmas right this very minute. Or if you prefer, the words of Buddy the Elf-SANTA!!!
Either way, Christmas in July is here, and not a moment too soon.Initially invented by those south of the equator looking to celebrate Christmas during a chillier time of their year, it's a perfect excuse to break out some yuletide spirit. Or at least break out some holiday classics.
Of course, picking the perfect tide-you-over classics can be a bit of a challenge. You don't want to overdo it, but you also want to make sure your holiday cinematic cravings are satisfied.
To get those bells jingling, here a few suggestions that in my opinion can be (and should be) watched anytime of the year.
First up, a movie that just happens to take place during Christmas, and deserves some year-round love- "Love Actually." Okay, some of the stories are actually a little depressing, but that's life people. Whether it's Christmas or July. It's happiness mixed together with sadness, and it's perfection.
For those who don't want to mess around. Here's one that not only gets you in the Christmas spirit, but reminds you to keep it all the year. I'm talking, of course, about "The Muppet Christmas Carol."
Wrapping it up is the classic, "Meet Me in St. Louis." I'll admit, as born and raised St. Louisan I have a biased. But there's something so heartwarming about this year in the life of the Smith Family that leads up to the 1904 World's Fair.
