Juxtapose This.

Posted on the 28 June 2013 by Rarasaur @rarasaur

Juxtapose the contrast of
your mind and your actions.

Feel the tension.

And when the diligent
efforts of your heart
cry out in pain—

thoughts of fantasy tantalizing,
thoughts of truth threatening—

feel the friction.
It forms a reticulate of
caught memories,
lost dreams,
childish wishes,
and torments of the soul.

You are vulnerable
to yourself.

The rationale continues:

They

are vulnerable to you.

And in this world
of defenselessness,
of palaver,
of pedantic blubbering,
we find ourselves
in the El Dorado for lost people
looking for souls
and the Utopia for lost souls
looking for bodies to inhabit.

We commemorate those
proficient in playing the game.

We applaud the vanguards
of this amalgamation—

The ones to try first,
The ones who die first.

But they are still
vulnerable to you.
Few things in life are more infrangible
than man
and vulnerability.

With artless tactics of war,
flagrant ignorance of others,
and eloquent shields of words,
We hide.

With resplendent fairy tales of life,
Meticulous accounts of heart,
And lissome skips across our stage,
We die.

Juxtapose the declivity of life
With the acclivity of strife.

Feel the tension,
the vulnerability,
the friction.

If everyone feels it,
Is it real?

No.

You are an epigone, not an enigma.

Juxtapose that.

Years ago, in a college classroom, we were asked to write something using all the Words of the Day sent to us in the course of a few weeks. This was my creation and I’ve always been quite fond of it.  I’m a bit of a logomaniac.  Words soothe, fascinate, hypnotize, and motivate me.

To me, this poem is an unlikely collection of friends– a Breakfast Club of words, if you will.

I’ll write you a poem if you give me a few random words to use.

More than 2, less than 10.

Go!
