Among musical theater fans, the names Craig Zadan and Neil Meron are practically synonymous with musicals for film and television.
This pair of producers is behind some of the most iconic filmed musical moment of the last two decades (and beyond). "Chicago," all of NBC's live musicals, "Smash," and the glory that was the "Wonderful World of Disney" musicals of the late 90s are all the work of Zadan and Meron. The list is epic and that's not nearly all of it.
This week we lost half of that dynamic duo with the untimely death of Craig Zadan, a loss that was deeply felt among the fans who cherish these incredible, and most importantly, accessible musical treasures.
