…Keep the Faith

baseball_firstbaseWell, Cardinal fans, we now have one game of the NLCS under our belts and we’re down, but not out. A situation, that the city of St. Louis has sadly been all too familiar with as of late.

Back in August when the tragic and heated events in Ferguson first propelled St. Louis into the media’s spotlight, we shared our thoughts, and hoped that this tense situation would come to a peaceful and just resolution.

Now it’s October, and St. Louis is once again getting notice not only for its baseball team, but for a new tragedy and continuing protests.

This post was initially meant to be a pep talk for a team that fell to their opponent last night, but given all that’s going on in St. Louis, beyond baseball, it seemed incomplete. So here’s a pep talk for the city of St. Louis.

We wouldn’t dream of pretending to have an answer to this systemic and societal problem, but we will say this: This October, St. Louis has a chance to prove itself not only as a great city for baseball, but as a great city period. As we, along with many others, said back in August, the actions of a few do not define an entire city, but if they don’t inspire us as a whole to change, then what was the point?

Now, let’s go St. Louis and let’s go Cards!
