If you haven’t jumped on the Team USA World Cup bandwagon, today may be your last chance.
Of course, it also may not. With a handful of possibilities for making it to the next round, the odds are somewhat in out favor.
With a win against Germany today, the US would obviously advance to the next round, and would play the front runner from Group H.
With a draw (or tie), we also make it to the next round, but as the runner up (I guess wild card would be the American equivalent).
Believe it or not, we could also lose today, and still make it through. Of course that options a little more complicated. Ideally, we’d be hoping for a tie in the Ghana vs. Portugal match. Although, a Portugal victory (assuming they don’t win by too much) would work, too.
Unfortunately, this could-be final game is also being played at an inconvenient time (12/11 CT). While the truly devoted will all have a case of World Cup fever today, the rest of us will be forced to sneak peeks during our coffee and lunch breaks.
No matter how you choose to watch, you should watch. After all, no one likes a Round of 16 bandwagon joiner.
