Since today the world recognizes our greatest weapon in the ongoing battle against cruelty, injustice, and downright meanness, today's crusade is brought you by the letter K, for kindness.
Happy World Kindness Day! It's the planets official annual reminder to be nice.
As we all search for that hero that will cure what ails our divided world, the answer is quite simple - kill them with kindness.
Of course, we know that in order to be an effective took, kindness must be practiced every day. And while it may seem like an oversimplification to think that kindness can solve the world's problems, but it's a great place to start, one day at a time.
And victory begins not at home (although be kind there too), but in those situations where civility is needed most. I'm talking about on the train, at the supermarket, in traffic...anywhere we can rise above the stress of the situation and share the good word of kindness...
Anyone can be nice when it's easy. The real payoff comes when you're able to stay kind in the face of the grouches of this world.
To be clear, I'm not saying to be nice to people to spite them.
But I will remind you that you will feel like a superhero after.
But this isn't about you, or me, it's about us and the contagious power of kindness.
So next time you don't get a thank you from the stranger you held the door, don't sweat it. You're in it for the long haul, one small act of kindness at a time...
