Late for Your Date

Welcome to my site. You may want to check out my book, "Kill Me Now!". Thanks for visiting!

One of the cardinal sins in dating is to be late for your date. This is basic etiquette. Walking in late to a business meeting is terrible, but walking in late to a date is even more so. Would you be late for a job interview? Never be late for your date. There’s a potential chance of meeting the one you could spend the rest of your life with. By being late or careless on a date, you’re making it rather obvious that the date isn’t of much importance to you.

Always be on time, and on the grave circumstance that you’re forced to be late, let your date know ahead in time that you’ll be late.

So at what point does taking time become wasting time – how long do you wait before ruling it too late? Five minutes, 10 minutes, a half an hour? For me personally if it is a half an hour and I know it will be that long, I can get a nap in. However lateness is just plain rude, sometimes it absolutely can not be helped, but the person should feel really bad for making you wait. They need to apologize even if they make up a reason like they had to do CPR on the neighbor’s dog.

You stand there waiting for your date outside the coffee shop where you agreed to meet. It is freezing cold but you are standing outside because that is where you agreed to meet but your partner is late. At what stage do you decide that you should give up and go home or else enter the establishment so that you can warm up? No sense being an idiot about it. If you did go inside, you may have actually seen your date waiting there for you, wondering why you are late. Who apologizes then?
