Last night I watched the documentary, Life in a Day directed by Kevin MacDonald, Natalia Andreadis and Joseph Michael. It was absolutely fantastic! Have you seen it? It documents a day in the life on planet earth that was comprised from 80,000 clips which were submitted on YouTube by ordinary people from all over the world. Questions like, What do you love? What do you fear? and What’s in your pocket? were asked. These simple questions generated so many different answers and perspectives – it was truly inspiring.
[Spoiler Alert]
There’s this really great clip at the end where a girl is filming herself and she’s really disappointed because, “nothing really exciting happened today”. And as she’s having this raw dialog with herself, she realizes that more than anything she wants people to know that she was here, that she existed. All of a sudden, you see the lightbulb go off in her head, and she gets really emotional as she realizes that she’s done just that.
It was really, really great. Will you watch it? If so, be sure to tell me your thoughts!
