Life Lesson: Read Your Own Blog and Take Your Own Advice Life Lesson number 30582, read your own blog and take your own advice.
I have a confession.  I have been depressed.  Not in the clinical since but definitely down, sad, blue, stressed, overwhelmed, and a slew of other antonyms of Joyful.  I have been feeling this way for a variety of reasons that I wont go into here but one of the reasons is definitely the holidays.  The holidays are hard.  They are full of personal expectations, hallmark movies, and sentimental commercials telling us what our Christmas, Hanukkah, New Years, etc.. should look like.  Often our real life experiences fall short in comparison leaving lots of space for negative feelings.
While thinking of what to write about today I decided to look at what I was writing on my blog this time last year.  What I found was this lovely and spot on post about how to have more Joy at the Holidays.  Had I taken the time to read my own blog a few weeks ago maybe I would not have been feeling so down.  I'm not saying reading this post has turned my frown upside down, but it has definitely steered me back to focusing on Joy.  Tips #3 (about having realistic expectations) and # 1 (focusing on what's most important) is what I should have been doing this entire season.  Luckily it's not too late for me to turn it around.
In the spirit of wishing 2014 farewell and Life Lesson 30582 (read your own blog)  here is a little list of blog posts that I wrote in 2014 that I should reread regularly:
  1. Oh Joy, I'm Hearing Voices
  2. 9 Types of Negative Thoughts That Steal Your Joy
  3. 11 Traits Of Confident Women
  4. 4 Ways To Practice Gratitude
  5. Me, Negative?
  6. Getting Right After Getting Up On The Wrong Side Of The Bed
  7. 5 Questions To Ask Yourself if You Are Chasing Joy
  8. 4 Things You Can control When Life Is Out Of Control
  9. Limit Your Limiting Beliefs
  10. 40 Joyful Ways To Have Fun Alone Or With Friends
  11. #TisTheSeason for Hope
I hope you don't mind me saying but there is some pretty good stuff here.  I bet if I spent just a little more time reading my own blog / taking my own advice I'd feel better and bounce back when feeling down a lot faster.
Do you follow your own advice? What is the best piece of your advice that you follow?  If you blog, which of your blog posts should you read more often?
