With all of the advancements in technology I find myself quite often thinking, “It’s cool, but do we really need it?”
That of course leads to the age-old moral dilemma of just because we can, doesn’t mean we should.
Then, there are glow-in-the-dark plants, which we can, we should, and why don’t we have them yet?
Okay, at first I was not so keen on the idea. At first I did not see any legitimate benefit from making trees (and other assorted vegetation) glow.
What can I say? I was in the dark on this one. I had no vision. Which would no longer be a problem should researchers (currently being funded by a Kickstarter campaign) uncover the mystery of illuminating plants.
I admit I have not often found myself sitting in the dark with a book next to a potted plant wondering why it couldn’t fix my problem. But to be fair, there are a lot of qualifiers in that scenario. And soon, no other human being could have to suffer through the very particular darkness of that situation.
I kid, but how awesome would replacing street lamps with luminescent trees be? Kind of awesome. And just think, you wouldn’t need to deal with untangling the Christmas lights.
And in closing, who knew Kickstarter was good for things other than campaigning for movies based on television shows that bit it before their time? Pushing Daisies, your day will come.
