My guest for this week’s “Living YOUR Happy Ever After” is Caitlin, a Communications major at the University of Louisville who recently entered the blogosphere. She’s got big dreams – and her eye on that dream job and lifestyle – and a plan to make them come true! Her enthusiasm and energy have inspired me, and I hope she inspires you, too! Meet Caitlin:
living YOUR happy ever after: caitlin
Caitlin is currently a sophomore Communications major at the University of Louisville who loves her studies, spending time with her family, movies and TV {everything from Disney’s Sleeping Beauty to Tarantino’s Django Unchained to BBC’s Sherlock}, and her Shih Tzu, Ellie, the “Pluto to her Mickey.”“Learning is a big part of my life right now,” she says. “This semester, I’m taking classes {social media, strategic communication writing, etc.} that are crucial in helping me meet my career goals.” What goals are those? She plans to work for Disney! She’s a huge fan of the House of Mouse and can’t think of anything better than surrounding herself with and helping to share the things she loves. “Every day I’m reminded of Disney in some way, whether it’s seeing my Thomas Kincaid Disney calendar or checking the time on my Minnie Mouse watch; being reminded of Disney helps me to stay focused on my goals and to give my best effort in everything I do.”Caitlin surrounds herself with reminders of her dream to help her persist!
“My ultimate happy ever after would be working for Disney with their Communications team and/or working with Pixar Animation Studios’ Public Relations Department,” she says, and she’s got a plan to do it. ”In order to reach my goals and fulfill my dreams of working for Disney/Pixar, I’m planning on earning a degree in Communications, participating in the Disney College Program, and then earning a full time job and making a career with Disney.” She’s especially interested in working with their international programs, either in public relations or in the international parks {Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris}. “I’d love to be able to travel in my work and have opportunities to submerge myself in cultures other than my own while promoting the things I love.”What does her family think of these goals? They’ve been wonderfully supportive! “I love my family with all my heart and can’t thank them enough for supporting me and my goals,” she says.Caitlin follows the “go big or go home” philosophy on setting and achieving her goals. “My goals may be set pretty high,” she says, “but those are my dreams.” She doesn’t let herself think overly long about the possibility of failing, but stays focused on the end goal. “It’s like dangling a carrot in front of a horse, but in my case, I dangle a picture of a Walt Disney Company cast member name tag with my name on it, and I just keep chasing it. I plan on continuing the chase until I get that name tag. After all, they say half the fun is in the chase, right?” We absolutely agree! We wish Caitlin the best of luck in achieving her goals, but with her persistence and positive outlook, we’re sure we’ll be seeing great things!
