Welcome back to the future! Yes, that’s right today is the day that Doc Brown and Marty McFly visit in “Back to the Future Part II.”
That means, starting tomorrow the entirety of the “Back to the Future” trilogy will take place in the past. It also means that the Internet has a perfect excuse to take stock of what the classic film got right.
Unfortunately, the future arrives hover board free (for now), and I think we all can agree that the world isn’t ready for flying cars. While it did miss on a few predictions (cough…Cubs World Series…cough), it did get quite a few things right.
For one, our televisions are larger and flatter. We also have wearable tech, even if we still don’t have self-lacing shoes (or do we?). Fingerprint scans for door locks, totally a thing. Plus, video conferencing is bigger, better, and more portable than the film ever imagined.
So, what’s next? Well, for the first time in almost 30 years, we’re without our road map. Or to put it another way, “Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads,” except it turns out we do…for now.
