It’s here! For the first time in nearly a decade there’s a new Harry Potter book. Yes, technically it’s a script, but that doesn’t make it any less exciting.
Of course, since the last book, a lot has changed in the world. Specifically, back in 2007 when “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” first hit the shelves, Twitter was barely a year old.
The age of “I must share every thought that pops into my head with the entire world,” had barely started. I hope you know where I’m going with this, but just in case, let me spell it out.
Please stop tweeting spoilers.
It’s very exciting that you read the entire 300+ page script in an hour, but some of us are still waiting for our copies to arrive. Once they do arrive, we may not be able to read them in one sitting. So, please resist the urge to divulge every last detail.
And to those who say, “Why don’t you just stay off Twitter?”. I agree, that does seem like an easy solution, it must be nice to have a job that doesn’t require that you stay up to date on what’s trending at all hours of the day.
Okay, now that that’s out of the way, let’s move on to the celebration. How amazing is it that we get to enjoy a completely new Harry Potter story, and on Harry and JK Rowling’s birthday.
True, it’s the final chapter in the Harry Potter story (JK confirmed it herself), but it’s also a chapter that we never thought we’d get nine years ago. So, we’ll take what we can get, and who knows, maybe Ms. Rowling will have a change of heart. Or maybe the end of the story provides a very clear end, either way, this Potter fan is happy to have one last story (in two parts).
