As we slowly inch our way towards the conclusion of "Game of Thrones" (it should be Friday by now, right?) our time for completely overanalyzing the series grows short. So, sorry not sorry, to anyone who is suffering from GoT burnout, this is happening.
While the literal Iron Throne is buried under the rubble of Daenerys's temper tantrum, the job is still very much up for grabs. Although, honestly, I don't know why anyone would want it at this point. Still, someone has to run this circus, so let's see who is still in the running...
First, there's the current victor, Daenerys, who has turned into a fine example of why inbreeding is bad.
Next up, there's the artist formerly known as Jon Snow who very clearly does not want to be King.
There are also the remaining Stark children who seem quite content to just stay in the North and/or polish off their hit list.
Of course, there's Gendry who now has an official title, but also falls into the category of "doesn't want it."
And then there's...wait...please tell me I'm forgetting someone. Are we sure the Night King is down for the count? Or what are the odds that the final episode is a peaceful transition to democracy, and can I nominate Michelle Williams (as Gwen Verdon)? She would rule with style, grace, perfect form, and just the right amount of jazz.
While there is not a perfect or obvious choice (other than Michelle Williams), one thing is clear - someone has to make a move.
