You change the world when you change your mind. Kinky Boots Storytelling is an essential part of the human experience. Life is stories and stories are life. They're how we teach lessons and learn. They're how we connect, share, and grow. All of this is true for two stories that are ending their Broadway chapters today.
"Kinky Boots" and "The Band's Visit" may seem as different as night and day on the surface. One is about a North Hampton shoe factory and a drag queen. The other is about a group of musicians who would have benefited from Google Maps.
Look a little closer though and you'll see that they're both stories about people looking past their differences and accomplishing something truly extraordinary.
I'm not talking about saving the shoe factory or figuring out the bus schedule. No, this kind of extraordinary is even simpler - it's looking past the differences and seeing yourself in someone who was once "the other."
There's far more that connects us than divides us. When life gets a little hectic and foggy, stories remind us of that.
