…make it qwik

Oh how quickly things change.  It was less than a month ago that 2WC weighed in on Netflix‘s announcement that it’s streaming and DVD services would …Go Separate Ways.

Then it was late September, now it’s barely October and the lamely named Qwikster is no more.

Seriously guys…what about Quick Flix?   And if you insist on maintaining the inaccurate spelling one-word thing you’ve got going on, why not go with Qwikflix?  You were not only alienating your customers, you were alienating your brand name.

Oh well it doesn’t matter now I suppose.  After its brief life as a “coming soon” Web site and service Qwikster has been mixed back in to the movie mecca that is Netflix.

The announcement was made on the Netflix blog yesterday, with CEO Reed Hastings posting, “It is clear that for many of our members two websites would make things more difficult, so we are going to keep Netflix as one place to go for streaming and DVDs.”

You think?  Difficult is underselling it.  You were planning on halting half of your service and making your customers go somewhere else.  Because who doesn’t need more needless complication in their life

It’d be like going to the dentist and being told that they were only cleaning the front of your teeth from now on.  Sorry for the inconvenience, but for back of teeth cleaning you’ll have to go see my associate across town.

…and really guys…Qwikster was the best you could do?
