The emoji, a seemingly simple, fun form of communication has seen its fair share of controversy. I think we all remember the uproar over the lack of Canadian representation (not even a hockey puck, eh?) and of course until the most recent update taco lovers had to spell out their affections (all four letters), and of course the fact that the only non-jaundiced emoji were horribly offensive.
Recent updates have remedied many of these problems, but one group was still woefully underrepresented in the world of emoji (it’s a very animated world)—people with curly hair, specifically women.
The curly emoji are courtesy of Dove, which means you’re going to have to work for them. They’re a separate keyboard app you’ll have to download to your phone, but let me tell you, they’re worth it.
Needless to say that women everywhere were happy for some textural variance in their emoji hair selections. Although I think the real victim here is the original lady emoji.
Look at her, the strangest thing is definitely not her hair. She is clearly trying to signal some horrible warning. The poor bizarrely coiffed woman is clearly in danger, perhaps from what ever contraption gave her that strange haircut.
