…Meet in the Middle

…Meet in the MiddleThis weekend saw a lot of back and forth between people with differing opinions on Saturday’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Some thought comedian Michelle Wolf’s words were on the nose. Others thought they were highly inappropriate. Not surprisingly the coverage saw very little middle ground.

No matter where your opinion lies, this polarizing response seems to be the new normal. The good news is that tomorrow the 2018 Tony Award nominees are announced. It may be a different stage from that of politics, but I assure you they have more in common than you might think.

Will people disagree with some of the choices — most definitely. Will they take different opinions personally — probably not. Isn’t that refreshing?

Despite the current nastiness in the political arena, the vast majority of us still manage to disagree with a certain amount of respect for others opinions. It may seem small and insignificant, but I assure you it’s not.

It’s a reminder that getting along does not rely on total agreement on all things. Winning isn’t one side getting their way, and tolerance is not getting everyone to agree with you.

We coexist everyday with people who are different from us. Something to keep in mind on a Monday where it feels like we can’t agree on anything.
