जग में अँधियारा छाया था ,मैं ज्वाला लेकर आया था,मैंने जलकर दी आयु बिता,पर जगती का तम हर न सका,मैं जीवन में कुछ कर न सका!
World with darkness was enveloped,
Blaze in it I had brought,
Spent my age in burning,but world's gloom I couldn't suppress,
My life remained useless!
अपनी ही आग बुझा लेता,तो जी का धैर्य बंधा देता,मधु का सागर लहराता था,लघु प्याला भी में भर न सका,मैं जीवन में कुछ कर न सका!
If my own fire I could have extinguish,
Then my heart could have relish,
Sea of honey was floating,but a small cup I couldn't access,
My life remained useless!
बिता अवसर क्या आएगा,मन जीवन भर पछताएगा,मरना तो होगा ही मुझको,जब मरना था तब मरना सका,मैं जीवन में कुछ कर न सका!
Did occasions spend will come back,
That regret will always attack,
Couldn't die when I should die,but will die when it's worthless,
My life remained useless!
