Iatrophobes received a blow recently from “The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association.”
According to a recent paper published in the Journal, Wikipedia is not a reliable replacement for an actual human doctor.
Which by itself isn’t shocking. Anything from Wikipedia should be taken with a grain of salt.
What is shocking is that nine out of the ten health articles that were fact-checked by researchers, contained errors.
That’s a ninety percent chance of misdiagnosis by Dr. Wikipedia.
Of course, that’s not nearly as upsetting as the fact that about half of medical students admit to using Wikipedia as a reference.
Moral of the story is, Wikipedia should be used for less important research. Such as the meaning of “iatrophobia” (fear of doctors)…in case you’re still scratching your head over that.
