Movie Mondays: The Hangover II
Posted on the 13 December 2011 by ShawndrarussellI went into The Hangover II with very low expectations. I liked not loved The Hangover, and I had heard mixed reviews of the second Hangover. So, I decided that I would just be happy looking at Galifianakas and laughing and not expect much more. Also, I think Bradley Cooper seems like such a nice guy and he plays such a jerk in these movies, which I sort of hate.
So, I was pleasantly surprised when I found myself laughing throughout the movie. Although it was the same plot, I liked the twists with Mr. Chow being pronounced dead accidentally and locked in a freezer all day, and Stu's future baby brother-in-law getting lost in Bangkok. And I loved the little drug dealing monkey they rescue from a life of crime way more than the stupid lion.
However, Stu was the source of the most laughs for me. He has several complete meltdowns, screaming like a little girl. He also becomes a man at the end, standing up to his future wife's horrible father-in-law that constantly berates him. Oh, and the monk beat down was pretty hilarious.
Definitely worth renting at a solid 3.5 stars.
