Music for Soul

Posted on the 13 October 2013 by Justalovelythought @justalovelythou

Music- songs sung as a child, songs heard while growing, songs heard in despair and gloom and songs that we have celebrated to. I can remember the songs that shaped my childhood and I fall back on them whenever I need comfort. They bring such warmth. Some days miraculously Mozart's Lacrimosa shows me the path that Google can't. MJ still gets me tapping my feet in a way that Swedish House Mafia doesn't. I am not downplaying the ample talent that the musicians of this age posses. The songs and sounds of yesteryear are rather comforting due to the sense of familiarity. I may have spent lot of evenings listening to Abba, Beatles, Wham, Michael Bolton, Genesis and innumerable such legends. George Michael's songs have mended my broken heart whereas Boney M's songs were the anthem that livened a dull party. Who could ever forget Jim Morrison. He was the one answer to puberty and hormonal years. Spice Girls taught me about crop tops and skinny jeans. Vic Beckham still rules the fashion circuit. John Lennon opened my eyes to peace and George Harrison introduced me to fusion with sitar strumming in 'Norwegian Wood'. I agree to whoever called Music the universal language. It has taught me that no books could have. It has shaped me to what I am today.
Below I have listed the top ten songs that will always be on my playlist:
1. Cherish-Kool and the Gang
