I have recently rediscovered ways of meeting people that have nothing to do with the internet. A lot of the ideas stemmed from me being tired of talking with a computer and typing instead of looking into a pair of real eyes.
Number one method: Talking to someone in person! I have been testing new ways of meeting people and I've tried this one out last week. First, by noticing someone who works in my office building. Second, by seeing that person in passing all the time. Third, by walking up and saying hello! And do you know what? It really wasn't that hard at all...it was rather refreshing, and no typing involved!
I've also noticed a few other tips that are helping me get out there and talk to people and make them reciprocate. These are very simple tips, but I think we all forget them at times in our busy lives.
1) Slow down...no rushing around at all times. No one will stop to say hello if they feel you are rushed! You would have no time to talk with them, right?
2) Stop and smell the roses...smelling the roses releases creativity and recharges us. It makes us feel better which makes us smile naturally.
3) Smile naturally...if you're in a genuinely happy mood, feel free to show it to all the strangers that you see out in your day. Who knows? The "one" might be passing by that day and notice you're glowing smile...which is genuine and coming from the heart.
4) Talk about being single...but not to the point of desperation...just barely enough to let others know, but let on that you're also comfortable in your own skin, too.
I hope you can use these tips in your daily lives. If you would like to write me personally with some tips of your own, please use this email address: [email protected]
I'd be happy to post the tips on the next blog post and give you credit (first and last name), or if you'd prefer to be anonymous, that's fine, too. After all, I'm just one person, with one perspective and I would like to hear from you!
Sincerely,
Rachel
