Newborns and the Sleep Thing – Can It Be Easier?

Posted on the 24 September 2013 by Mummyflyingsolo @mummyflyingsolo

When it came to newborns and sleep I was pretty oblivious. I knew it was an issue but I thought that was just because they woke up hungry in the middle of the night. I had no idea that it would be so difficult to get the baby back to sleep sometimes. Or that I’d be there rocking and wrapping and jiggling and patting like a mad woman. And the 40 minute catnap right when you were expecting a nice healthy 2 hour rest. Oh good lord it almost did my head in.

There’s no magic cure of course but I’ve since learned that there are some simple strategies we can put in place from the time baby is born that can help him learn the art of sleeping. My friend calls it the “sleep bible”.  She rocked her first baby to sleep until he was one year old and then had a nightmare of a time breaking that habit. So for the next two bubs she got the sleep bible happening and it worked. These second two boys have been great sleepers. Now it could all be coincidence and maybe she just got lucky but maybe she didn’t. And what she did is dead easy and not at all unpleasant for mommy and baby.

You can check out all the info AND the sleep bible itself (which is really just a piece of paper) on my guest post over at You and Baby. I’m totally going to be giving this a try for the next one. Click on the pic of my sleeping little monkey below and it will zoom you right on over there.
