…not Bet on It

Posted on the 05 August 2013 by Zer @the2women

…not bet on itThe confetti has settled, the fanfare is over,  and the universe has spoken: Peter Capaldi will be the 12th Doctor.  Congratulations sir from myself and 2WC.

Now, I have to say, I’m a little disappointed. My disappointment has nothing to do with Mr. Capaldi. I think he’s a fantastic actor, and I look forward to seeing his reimagining of the Doctor. You can see his resume here or just search his name on Twitter that’s all anyone’s been posting. He’s fantastic. Love him. Excellent choice.

Am I a little bummed that yet another white male got the part? Yes, but I’m not especially surprised.

I also wasn’t surprised in the least that Mr. Capaldi’s name was said, and therein lies my disappointment.  Why did I expect his name to be read? Because he had the greatest odds according to all of the bookies taking bets on the 12th Doctor’s identity.

That is why I’m disappointed—for shame humanity.

Who bets on Doctor Who?  Apparently a lot of people.  I understand that gambling happens, I’m not that naive.  I just prefer to be unaware. What makes it worse is that they were right.

Are no secrets safe anymore? Because if the Doctor Who creative team can’t keep a secret then who can really?

Never ignore a coincidence. Unless you’re busy, in which case always ignore a coincidence.

The Eleventh Doctor

…why yes, yes there are 13 men in the countdown of the 12 Doctors…why? That’s an excellent question:
