NYC Weekend

Posted on the 19 August 2012 by Savemysunshine @savemysunshine

It's been awhile since I have posted. Being busy is an understatement. I'm a bit energized about blogging after attending Blogher 2012 in NYC. I say "a bit" because I've been thinking of posts in my head, but I haven't put them down on paper (or blog) yet.

My daughter and I had a great time in NYC but oh my was it hot! I live in Florida and I'd like to think I'm used to the heat, but in the city among all those buildings, the air was just stagnant and humid. But we didn't let it stop us. We walked and walked and walked. We went to Greenwich Village, Soho, walked around mid-town for some shopping, walked through China Town to get to Little Italy for dinner and went to The Theater District to see Rent and Bring It On. Both of which were excellent. Spent a good afternoon in Greenwich Village and included a walk through Washington Square, which I loved.

In addition to walking, we ate. We didn't eat in quantities, just too hot... but we did more than our fair share of desserts with a stop at the Magnolia Bakery on Avenues of the Americas, Rockefeller Center, Juniors in the Theater District, Grom on Bleecker Street and Ferrara Bakery & Cafe in Little Italy.

The convention was good, I went to a few of the workshops and did attend the afternoon keynote with Katie Couric which was wonderful. I enjoyed the vlogging sessions the most. Something new and the presenters were very engaging.

We ended the trip in the Hilton Lobby watching the men's USA Olympic Foil team compete for bronze. Even though we did not achieve a medal this year, the USA fought hard and we are so proud of our friend Race Imboden from Brooklyn, NYC for representing the US with poise and honor. We can't wait for Rio in 2016, it's going to be amazing!

The Blogher 2013 is going to be in Chicago, I'm looking forward to it.

I had a wonderful time with my daughter, I always do. I cherish these mother and daughter adventures. I know soon enough she will have a family of her own and these times will be less frequent. I love my girl.
