So far, we’ve had an absolutely amazing time hanging out and about in Denver. We had a chance to grab dinner and drinks with my husband’s best man and his wife, who live nearby, and spend some quality time with Scott’s folks and his sister {not to mention our stinkingly cute baby niece and precocious now teenage niece}. The unusual rainy days we’ve had kept us from going on the hikes we’d hoped for, but we still managed to do a fair bit of hiking around downtown Littleton. We took in an amazing breakfast at Snooze {I’m a huge fan of their Lower East Sider breakfast!} and then walked around, poking into gift shops and spice shops and an amazing olive oil and balsamic shop that let us taste their wares to our hearts’ content!
I love, love, love the host of antique and specialty shops tucked into every little corner and cranny around here. The people are so personable and helpful, and if you’re in the market for something that’s one-of-a-kind, special, unique, and a lovely style addition, you’re shopping in the right place. We fell so in love with a couple shops in particular that Scott and I are determined to come back and look for some special pieces for our townhouse when we come back for Thanksgiving. I never thought I’d be looking for style inspirations for a Hawaii house in Denver, but I found so many things I love at Old Glory Antiques. Check out some of my favorite things in these pictures and see if you see the potential:
My absolute favorite piece is this wagon-wheel window frame. I see something like this hanging over the back of our couch, either by itself or used as a frame for pictures. Maybe some antiqued snapshots from around the island.
I love all things rustic, and the idea of recycling/reusing/upcycling. It seems so much more practical to me to find a new home for something old that’s still in good condition than buying something brand new. It’s not always practical from a price point {which is why I have a love/hate relationship with Restoration Hardware}, but places like Old Glory not only have one-of-a-kind pieces that are genuine, not just made to look antique, but are price reasonable as well.
We just have a couple more days to continue our adventures in Denver before we head to California – and I’m amazed at how quickly the time is going! I’ve seen so many people lamenting how fast this summer has blown by. If someone locates the pause button for the world, let me know, because there are so many remarkable things here in this world to enjoy and savor. I don’t want them to just blow by!
Here’s hoping everyone is having a lovely week!
