Ownership: A Proof of Presence

Ownership: A proof of presenceDo you see how tight they clinch, how closelythey hold? Freshly bought things come with a special delight. The most matureunwrap newly bought objects with the speed of a reckless child scoffing achocolate bar; this intense feeling of anticipating owning something unique takesover, the harmless version of a mischievous billionaire, standing at the top ofa hill, viewing the world with an eye hungry for possession. It's in every oneof us, the need for owning and for having others acknowledging our right forpossessing.
We're instinctive, defensive creatures. Wefancy comfort zones and wide conversational spaces. We protect our propertieswith an inborn passion for life. Turbulent feelings invade you when you losewhat's precious; when your nosy sister/brother uses your cell phone behind yourback; when they fail to respect your sense of ownership by requesting approval. The mere gesture of politely requesting an approval for using something grantsus psychological comfort and an accentuated sense of privacy. Those who fail torealize this lose their ability to understand others.
What makes a house so special and personal isthe door crippling you from taking further steps. You've to knock. It's nolonger a space that you can enter without pleasing a sense of ownership bybeing polite, taking your shoes off in a rainy day, and abiding by the owner's rules. You've to realize that sometimes one may covet saying no just to prove toyou that what belongs to him is subject to his authority. It's not a twistedcraving; it's a basic tool for survival in a world that rarely respects adesire for safe late-night walks in dark alleys.

Signyour words with a hearty please. Dispel your high pitches with gentle requestsfor using what does not belong to you. They say that nobody washes a rental car; they say that selfishness isthe trend. People have come to expect nothing from those who do not even careto turn around and say sorry after a harsh bump in the shoulder. It sucks thewarmness out of a pulsing heart to know that every right is being ruthlesslyviolated.
Thankthose who trust you with their belongings. Spray their stuff and wipe them witha soft towel. Make sure you can see your reflection on the surfaces of what'sprecious and personal. Place them on gritless surfaces and soft bed sheets.Respect others' sense of ownership for breaking it implies psychological damagesthat go far beyond what your eyes can see.--------------------------------------------ιиѕριяє∂ вy: Observing my reactions as well other people's reactions to violations of privacy and usage of possessions without polite permissions
