ENG. Since 15 years ago, every Christmas at my house in Colombia we make the Pan de Pascua which I actually learned today due to my editor Samis that it is actually called Pan de Jamón and it comes from Venezuela!  I believe we got the recipe from a Venezuelan TV show and through the years we have adapted little by little to the Hernandez (my mom’s family name) kitchen!
The Pan de Jamón or Pan de Pascua (as we call it at my house) or Pan de Martha (as my friends call it here in Milan) is a salty and sweet bread traditionally made in Christmas! The ingredients may vary, depending on the region or person who makes it. Today, I want to show you how Juana does it in Milan! It is a very easy and delicious recipe! My family and friends here in Milan love this bread, so I am pretty sure if you try it out this Christmas weekend it will be a total success among your love ones!
Ingredients for 4 people:
  • 1 package of croissant pastry
  • 1 small jar of olives
  • 1 small bag of raisins
  • 1 small bag of bacon
  • 1 small bag of cook ham
  • 1 egg
Extend the croissant pastry in a round form.  Add to the pastry the slides of cooked ham. Then add the raisins, the olives and the bacon either cut in small pieces or in slices.  Afterwards, turn over the pastry with the ingredients inside and create a roll out of it. Beat the egg in a cup. With a spatula spread the beat egg all over the roll. Then put the roll in the oven in 200 degrees for 30 minutes. When the roll is golden on top take out.  Smell it and eat! Delicious! Accompany it with coffee!
