…Philosophize

…PhilosophizeToday, the Peanuts gang returns to the silver screen. Starring the eternal underdog, Charlie Brown, and his dog, Snoopy, Peanuts is just as relevant now as it was over 60 years ago. That’s due in large part to its universal appeal.

Charles M. Schultz didn’t write a comic strip simply about a boy and his dog. Charlie Brown is the quintessential Everyman. Not only does he struggle with and opine over life’s many mysteries, trials, and tribulations, but he’s surrounded by philosophers (Linus), artists (Schroeder), and a nice healthy dose of reality (Lucy).

So, basically, if you can’t identify with at least one member of the Peanuts gang, well you might be reading/watching it wrong.

In honor of the release of “The Peanuts Movie,” I’m sharing some of my favorite quotes, philosophies, and other witticisms. With more than 60 years worth of comic strips, television specials, and films, there’s a lot to choose from, but here are some highlights.

“Do footballs mind being kicked, sir? Do you think it causes them to be traumatized?”

~Marcie

“Don’t let your team down by showing up!”

~Lucy van Pelt

“Some philosophies take a thousand years. I think of them in two minutes.”

~Sally Brown

“There are three things I have learned never to discuss with people…religion, politics and the Great Pumpkin!”

~ Linus van Pelt

“Sometimes I lie awake at night, and I ask, ‘What can I do to keep my life from going by so fast?’ Then a voice comes to me that says, ‘Try slowing down at the corners,’.”

~Charlie Brown
