…oh the places you’ll go…
When it comes to cell phone usage tensions can be high when it comes to defining “appropriate” usage. We all have our own thoughts on what constitutes “rude” or downright “gross” times to use your cell phone.
So it came as a bit of a shock to find that a recent study by eBay Deals found that a lot of us are on the same page when it comes to cell phone etiquette.
For instance, 88% of respondents said that they disapprove of walking while texting.
In another smaller, recent study conducted by the good people at Me, Myself, and I, at least 15% of that 88% have nearly wandered into oncoming traffic while responding to a text.
It’s not the texting while walking that’s the problem, it’s the not looking where you’re going. If you are capable of not becoming a crazed human bumper car while walking down the sidewalk and texting, I have no problem with you.
The eBay study also revealed that most of us disapprove of cell phone use at the movies, during class, at dinner, and in the restroom.
That’s all well and good, but if you think you’re the exception to the rule then that 76% means nothing. So feel free to disapprove of the jerk texting during the movie, but only if your phone is in off position…those in glass houses.
In conclusion, you 71% and 45% who think it’s okay to text and talk (respectively) while in the restroom: Ewwwww.
