…protect Against Tyranny

Posted on the 08 February 2013 by Zer @the2women

…protect against tyrannyApparently I’m in a sci-fi mood this week, so prepare yourselves.  This time I’m leaving “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…” and heading towards “Space: the final frontier.”

That’s right, today’s movie topic is all about the latest Star Trek scandal.

As I’m sure Trekkie readers of our blog already know, there was a possible leak of the unknown villain played by Benedict Cumberbatch in the forthcoming Star Trek Into Darkness.

Don’t worry, you can keep reading, no such spoilers will appear here.

It’s just a shame that after so much secrecy a simple attempt at alliteration by Entertainment Weekly may have spoiled the fun for all of us.  The publication printed the name of Mr. Cumberbatch’s character in EW‘s “Back Issues Store” the cover is labeled “Voyage Into the New Star Trek: Kirk & Name that will not be mentioned here.”

So, to clarify, if you had gone online to purchase the magazine (as so many of us do) and noticed that the headline on the web page did not match the headline on the magazine, the surprise villain would have been ruined for you.  And if not there, then probably by one of the many, many publications that have since put the spoiler directly in their headlines.

Of course, there’s the incredibly likely chance that the Kirk & (name that shall not be mentioned here) headline was simply a mistake.  And as chance would have it, that’s their story and they’re sticking to it.
