…Provide a Buffer

Posted on the 30 October 2012 by Zer @the2women

…Provide a BufferWith any great natural disaster, there are always uncertainties. However, there are also some things that you can be sure of. The finger of blame will be pointed. People will come together. And Twitter will certainly have something to say about it.

It’s a phenomenon of the modern-day. We all have plenty to say about everything, and even more to say when something bad happens (in 140 characters or less).

It’s a blessing and a curse.  While most are well-meaning, and some are even helpful.  Others can just come across as insensitive.  Helpful hint to the prospective tweeter: When death and destruction are involved, try to keep the humor to a minimum.

Thankfully, the social media damage has been minimal this time around.  I like to think we’ve grown as a social media community.

Although, the less than sensitive comments have been made (…Lindsay Lohan), they have been few and far between.

On behalf of 2WC, our thoughts and prayers go out to all those impacted by the storm.

…and for anyone who is wondering, yes, there is a Twitter account for Hurricane Sandy (@HurricaneSandy)…
