…raise the Bar

…raise the barToday I have a treat for all of you history buffs out there. Happy New Beer’s Eve! Sounds classy, right?

Now, three guesses (preferably without an assist from Google) as to how this festive day got its name.

Anyone?

No, it’s not because it’s the eve of National Beer Day. Well, it is, but the real history here is why National Beer Day is April 7. Anyone?

Anyone?

Okay. Time is up. Pencils down.

At 12:01 AM on April 7, 1933, Prohibition came to an end and the day has henceforth been known as National Beer Day. Who says history can’t be fun?

…raise the bar

And guess what? History happens every day. Whether it’s the President (that would be President Theodore Roosevelt, btw) reopening the bars, or Congress lowering the bar (the bar, in this case, being the number of votes they need to confirm a Supreme Court justice), we are experiencing history. Just let that sink in.

So, raise a glass for the day, and next time someone tells you they “don’t like history,” remind them that we’re living it, every day. They probably won’t thank you for it, but you’ve been warned.
