The Belmont Stakes are finally here and with them the possibility of a Triple Crown. The odds that another horse joins this elite club are long, but it’s hard not to get caught up in the excitement.As the third jewel in the Triple Crown, the Belmont Stakes’ appeal relies a lot on the first two races. Thankfully, this year Justify gave them something to draw in the public interest when he easily won not one but two very muddy races.
That being said, there’s a reason Triple Crown champions don’t come along that often. This series of races is hard.
Add in the fact that some of today’s contenders won’t have completed as recently as Justify, and its easy to see why this is a long shot.
Win or lose, Justify will have accomplished what few before him have. And probably won’t care either way. But don’t let that stop you from joining in on the fun.
