For this week’s What to Wednesday, I thought I’d take a minute to actually, directly acknowledge a show that 2WC has anticipated, mentioned in passing, and shared videos too, but it has yet to get its own post. So, here it is, an entire post dedicated to one of the most zany (and wonderful) things to hit television in a while—“Galvant.”
This Sunday, the final installments of this musical adventure will air (on ABC 8/7 c), and sadly, if ratings are to be taken into consideration, that may be the end of it. Lucky for us, in this wonderful, DVR-Netflix-Amazon world that we live in, ratings don’t mean everything. I’m not saying that means “Galavant” will get another shot, but it does mean it has a shot. Or, the more likely scenario, the fact that it didn’t utterly fail means ABC may do something different, but equally wonderful as a follow-up.
Lord knows they’re going to have to do something next January to compete with the musical theater powerhouse live production of “Grease” that Fox is putting together. For those who haven’t seen the casting so far, Sandy will be played by Dancing with the Stars’ Julianne Hough and Rizzo will be played by High School Musical’s Vanessa Hudgens. For those of you who aren’t familiar with either of them, or haven’t picked up on the extreme sarcasm dripping from this entire paragraph, my hopes for this televised musical event have dropped significantly, and they started out pretty low, but that’s a topic for another post. This post is for “Galavant.”

Okay, so maybe this is less of a reassuring post about the probability of the show getting a second season as it is a desperate plea to get you all to check it out this Sunday (8/7 c on ABC). Did I mention they sing?
