Whatever you’re doing right now, stop it. What I’m about to say is huge, and if you haven’t heard it already, you’ll want to remember where you were when you heard it.
Take a moment, look around. Take a mental photo of your surroundings. If you’re not a big fan, you might want to change your location before continuing. Make a note of what time it is.

THERE’S ANOTHER HARRY POTTER BOOK, AND IT’S BEING RELEASED THIS SUMMER!!!!
Okay, now let’s take a collective deep breath, and move on to details.
The book “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts I & II,” doesn’t have an official release date, yet. However, it will be released sometime after the play (by the same name) debuts in London, which means it will be sometime after July 30th.
In terms of the plot, well we know the following…
- It takes place 19 years after the Battle of Hogwarts and the defeat of Voldemort.
- Harry is now an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic.
- His son, Albus, is struggling with the perils of having a famous father.
…and that’s about it. Which is probably a good thing, because there is nothing worse than Harry Potter spoilers.
On that note, I’ll leave you to obsessively search the Internet for any other scraps of information you can find about the official eighth book in the Harry Potter canon…it still doesn’t seem real!
