It has been quite the week for politics. Don't worry, I'm not going to ruin your nearly-the-weekend vibes with a reminder of reality. I promise to only focus on the good news, or at least the political equivalent of good news.
First up, in the UK Brexit is still very much a reality. However, the March 29th deadline has been pushed back to April 12th. Which is a good thing because it means that the UK and EU won't have to deal with a messy and abrupt breakup next week. It by no means solves any of the many, many problems, but it means we get to enjoy the looming-deadline induced panic for a little longer.
Next up, we have New Zealand. Events like last week's Christchurch shooting are the worst way to bring about common sense gun laws, but in less than a week the Kiwis managed to do just that. As of this week, all military-style, semi-automatic guns and all assault rifles are banned. If that doesn't restore your faith in the power of politicians to enact meaningful change, I don't know what will.
Don't worry US, I didn't forget you. Unfortunately, our good news is a bit of a mixed bag. But that's kind of par for the course at this point. It seems that the Mueller report is "imminent." What does that mean? Well, aside from the fact that news outlets have officially run out of headlines, it could mean absolutely nothing. Yes, the best news I have for you is that there's no news, which some might say is good news...
That's it for now. You can get back to your busy Friday afternoon of watching the clock and planning out your weekend.
...just for fun:
