…Reconnect

Democratic National Convention groupies who weren’t able to make it to the convention, find a television or get to a computer for a live viewing of First Lady Michelle Obama’s speech, faced disappointment twice this past Tuesday.

After quickly accepting the fact that their viewing would be a few minutes after the rest of the world, and determined not to be the last to hear Michelle Obama’s inspiring words, they devised an alternate plan.

They raced to the nearest Internet access, typed in the YouTube url, and were greeted by:

This video contains content from WMG, SME, Associated Press (AP), UMG, Dow Jones, New York Times Digital, The Harry Fox Agency, Inc. (HFA), Warner Chappell, UMPG Publishing and EMI Music Publishing, one or more of whom have blocked it in your country on copyright grounds. Sorry about that.

Foiled once again. All they could do was wait (and hope one of their fellow DNC groupies had a dvr).

It seems YouTube outsmarted themselves when their content filters deemed the video was violating copyright.

That or protecting us all from the dangers of being responsible and informed citizens (even if we weren’t able to watch it live).
