Losing sucks. No one likes it. Everyone wants to be a winner. Anyone who tells you they don’t care that they lost is gracious, but they’re lying to you. They care, they just choose to not cry and run on stage to interrupt the winner (you let me down Leo…).
But in case you didn’t already feel awful for Mr. DiCaprio, here’s another reason: Actors who win Oscars live, on average, four years longer than the losers. That number goes up to 6 for those who’ve taken home multiple Academy Awards.
So, to put that in the modern context—Meryl Streep is immortal.
Oh and the whole, “It’s an honor just to be nominated,” doesn’t get you any bonus years. The non-nominated live just as long as the non-winning nominees.
I suppose there are great injustices in the world, but would it kill you to give Leo an Oscar, Academy? His health depends on it.
