Well it’s here racing fans of the equestrian persuasion (those of the automobile persuasion that day will probably not come…sorry)
It’s almost time for the Belmont Stakes. The final piece of the Triple Crown. Exciting stuff, or it would be if a certain horse were running it.
I’ll Have Another is out of the running and thus racing fans we will once again be deprived of a Triple Crown champ. This champ in his own right will be retiring.
We’ll just have to soldier on and choose another horse to place our hopes (and other such wagers, for those who feel so inclined) on.
Truth be told, my horse-racing fandom begins annually with the Kentucky Derby and ends with the Belmont Stakes. Still I enjoy the ceremony and the excitement, which is annually dashed at some point during May or June. I’ll have to find something else to focus on. I think I’ll go with the hats…they’re usually pretty interesting.
