…screen It

Posted on the 20 December 2013 by Zer @the2women

…screen itWe live in the age of the second screen. Because watching television can be so boring, many have taken to tweeting each and every thought they have about a show, while they’re watching said show.

Some call it narcissism, I call it a culture of spoilers. So many of us can’t have a thought without immediately translating it into 140 characters of brilliance to share with the rest of humanity.

Unfortunately it’s a self-fulfilling loop because odds are everyone who you’re feeding your “brilliance” to probably thinks the same thing about themselves, and the easiest way to get you to praise their own brilliance is by praising yours. It’s mildly cynical, but tell me it’s not true…the like button is at the bottom of the post…just saying…

Believe it or not that’s not the point I’m trying to make. Now that symbiotic relationship between Twitter and television is taking it a step further…maybe.

A book about the advent of Twitter is being optioned as a television show. Think of the tweets…

What happens when you’re tweeting about a show that’s about Twitter. Don’t worry, I’ve already brainstormed the perfect hashtags for such an occasion: #mindblown #TrippyTwitter.

The book is called “Hatching Twitter,” but I’d like to propose the following alternatives:

  • How I’ve Never Met Most of My 4 Thousand Followers (Of course this one leaves us with a few questions: What happens once they’ve invented Twitter and how many seasons will it take them to get there?
  • The Office…Distraction
  • Lost (because I was busy updating my status)
  • Dawn of the Walking Dead

You can think about it.
