…Second Guess

Posted on the 23 September 2012 by Zer @the2women

…Second GuessThe key to a good Emmy prediction is embracing the fact that you are (as a human being) completely and totally biased. Add the fact that we as 2WC have only seen about 85 percent of the actual nominees we are inflicting our predictions on and we refer you back to our original point.

However as lovers of storytelling and frequent watchers of the television, we once again present for your consideration our 4 cents. Enjoy:

Outstanding Comedy Series:

Zer: Modern Family— Quite possibly, the most popular comedy on TV today.  I defy you to find someone who doesn’t love this show.  If they don’t, they’ve probably never watched it.  Put simply, it’s just good television.
Stephanie:  Girls or Veep–I’d like to say The Big Bang Theory (for nostalgia, and Jim Parsons) and I never count Modern Family out, but an HBO series will likely win this, and I hope it’s Veep. Seriously this show is hilarious, you should watch it.

Outstanding Drama Series:

Zer: Downton Abbey— This might be a long shot, but if any show could pull an upset off in this category, it’s Downton.  A year ago, who would have thought that a UK television program broadcast on PBS would win this category.  This is the little show that could.  It may be a new category, but I think they’ve got this…but my second choice is Boardwalk Empire.
Stephanie:  Downton Abbey–Did you really have to ask?  Clearly someone did not see last week’s blog.  I’m not saying they will, I”m saying I want them to.  Now that they’ve graduated to the Drama Series from Mini-Series it’s any one’s game and Game of Thrones had a pretty awesome season, Homeland, Boardwalk Empire, and Breaking Bad, have equally strong followings, and Mad Men, sorry you disappoint me.

Outstanding Mini-Series of Movie:

Zer: Sherlock— Best. Series. Ever.  It’s got style, excellent writing and a phenomenal cast to bring it to life.  If this doesn’t win, then they got it wrong.  If you haven’t seen it, it’s on Netflix.  Check it out.
Stephanie: Sherlock–Watch it.  Love it.  That’s all I can say.  This should and better win.

Outstanding Variety Series:

Zer: The Daily Show — While part of me wants the The Colbert Report to win this category at least once, there’s a reason the The Daily Show wins year after year.  On the odd chance The Colbert Report does win this year…you’re welcome.
Stephanie: Ah, the annual battle between Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart.  I believe there are other nominees in this category, but does anyone really think they have a chance?  No.  I’m going with The Colbert Report again this year, purely because one of these times I’ll be right.  Love both of these shows, they should tie.
