…self(ie) Reflect

My lack of enthusiasm for the selfie should come as no surprise to regular readers of this blog. I (along with Zer), have on several occasions bemoaned this trend in photography and what it says about humanity.

So, while I’d like to tell you I take no pleasure in what I’m about to say, that would simply not be true. This week the selfie was declared dead.

My (not quite sincere) condolences, to those of you out there who live for turning the lens on yourself (literally); those of you who look in the mirror and think, “I should really snap a picture of myself, and by golly, I bet all of my friends would like to see my reflection right now, #Narcissus.”

Time of death was sometime prior to the Webby Awards, where host Patton Oswalt officially declared their demise. An announcement that could not have possibly been complete without this touching in memoriam tribute:

I guess all that’s left to say is, RIP selfie, we knew thee all too well.

…bi-daily smile…

Love the cast of “Selfie”, love the idea (modern “My Fair Lady”), a little disappointed they didn’t mix up the gender roles more (Henrietta Higgins, perhaps), but I’ll withhold final judgment until I see the final product:
