Happy Easter Saturday (to some)! Happy Passover (to others)! And Happy April 7th (to the rest)!
It’s days like this that remind us just how lucky we are to be living in a country in which our two religions can peacefully coexist, and even share a holiday weekend.
Of course, not all is bright and bubbly this weekend. The Golden State isn’t looking so shiny as it has kicked out America’s favorite soft drink, Coca-Cola, just in time for Passover.
For those unfamiliar with Coca-Cola’s “kosher for Passover” product, it uses sugar instead of corn syrup, and will not be appearing at California Passover gatherings (unless a black market develops).
Why would California wage war on Coke, you might ask? Well, some minor infraction claiming that the Coke product contains toxic chemicals.
That may sound scary, much like the name chemical 4-methylimidazole (the chemical infraction) sounds potentially deadly. But how bad can it be, given how many smiles it’s created over the years.
And after all, it hasn’t killed us yet…something to think about this Passover (and Easter) weekend.
