Shopping

Women and men do not think alike. Is there anyone who doesn’t know that? Sometimes I feel as if they are still talking a Venutian dialect as if they just stepped off their space ship.

Sharon dragged me to go shopping for a dinner table. I did not mind as I thought it would be a quick trip and then we could go out for dinner afterwards.

ShoppingWe got to the store and browsed around until she saw something she liked. Actually I saw many that I thought were suitable but every time I mentioned it, she scrunched up her cute nose and the right shoulder was pushed up to meet her ear. Kid style.
We were walking around the table and she was going on and on about its beauty. What she was referring to, I don’t know. It is a table! But at least we will get the table and go and eat. Then she says she wants the table in black! You just bestowed the beauty of this table but you want it in black? “Well yes, the black will go with the cupboards.” I looked at the table and thought “Is she nuts? What is wrong with this color?”

Then she looked at me and said, “Lets go!” What about the table? “We will come back!” How do I tell her that I don’t want to make another 30 minute trip for this table? I don’t, I just shut up.

We made another trip to the store to get the black table and she decides she doesn’t want it. Now she wants another table whose color matches the floor! As the store was closing she made her decision and selected the one that matched the floor. Whatever! Does it really
matter to me? As long as she is happy.

Now we have to buy placemats. I guess she does not like the set of Disney placemats on the new table. Maybe we can buy Star Trek placemats? So she picked out placemats that matched the color of the cupboards. She asked my opinion and then told me I do not understand.
Yes, she is right.

At home she placed the placemat on the table and said “Beautiful!” Well, she was not looking at me. She then took out a plate and placed it on the placemat. Cool, dinner time! “Beautiful!” Sharon said.

Then Sharon started getting excited and said “With shining cutlery, the table will look gorgeous.”

I looked at her in all her excitement and nodded my head in agreement while wondering what she was talking about. A spoon is a spoon and a plate is a plate. Can I not continue eating off the plates I have been using for the past ten years?

How can I channel her excitement over the table to the bed?
